www obamacare

www obamacare

bill clinton was speaking inflint, michigan, and the issue of obamacare came up, and hesaid some curious things that were not in support of obamacarewhatsoever. >>the people getting killed inthis deal are small business people and individuals who makejust a little too much to get any of these subsidies. why? because they aren't organized, they don't have any marketingpower with insurance companies,

and they are getting whacked. soyou've got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 millionmore people have healthcare, and then the people that are outthere busting it sometimes 60 hours a week wind up with theirpremiums doubled and their coverage cut in half. it's the craziest thing in theworld. >>what? what just happened?

bythe way, his criticism is not wrong, there are severe issueswith obamacare, which is something that came up quite abit during the primaries. bernie sanders was very clear about thefact that he wanted universal healthcare, he wanted to improveupon the healthcare system we have in place now because it'snot working for some people. there are good things that camealong with obamacare, but a lot of bad things as well if you askme.

including the fact that you are forced to buy privateinsurance. >>those are the same complaintswe had in the middle of the obamacare fight. we said thisthing is too right-wing, it makes us buy private insurance. in fact we know that because it was a right-wing idea from theheritage foundation, a right-wing conservative think tank, it wasinstituted in massachusetts by

mitt romney. these are the falsechoices we have, you go with mitt romney or barack obama, romneycare or obamacare, those choices. the same thing. if youare protesting obamacare on those grounds, i hear you. but ithink bill clinton even if we are taking it from a progressivestandpoint, although i don't

think that's where he came from, went too far. talking about doubling rates, that's not true. >>didn't some people have theirpremiums double? i don't know if you can find one or two cases ofthat, but en masse it was not doubled. but before obamacare, prices were also going up. i

think if obamacare had a publicoption they could've contained some cost issues, instead itdidn't. what is amazing about this story though is that hewould say this in the middle of a presidential run, just a littleover 30 days left, his wife is running for president, his wifebacks obamacare 100%, president obama is set to give a speechtomorrow in florida defending obamacare. >>drahms. >>and bill clinton undercutsboth barack obama and his

own wife running for president, that's a crazy thing to say in the middle of the campaign. >>i know what is happening, bill clinton is secretly a trumpet supporter. >>there are three possibilitiesas to why he says this. bill clinton is not coming from aprogressive perspective, he doesn't back a public option. possibility number one is bill

clinton is a pretty conservativeguy, that's why a lot of progressives didn't like him aspresident. he ended welfare, he increased the prison industrialcomplex, a lot of people weren't in favor of that, i get it. hedidn't have to, he deregulated the banks, that was hideouslyconservative. the simplest idea is he is attacking obamacarelike conservatives would because

he's largely conservative. center-right. not crazy right, but center-right. the secondtheory is he's losing it. this theory is out there, i'm not theone who came up with it. that's why they don't have him on thecampaign trail so much.

you think bill clinton, he should beon the trail nonstop. wasn't he one of the greatest americanpoliticians, certainly of our lifetimes? whether or not youagree with him he knew how to appeal to the american people, progressives and conservatives at the same time, but he's noton the campaign trail as much as you would expect because he is aloose cannon.

is it because of age, etc.? we don't know. ithink the third theory is the best one, which is that he hassuch a gigantic ego, he can't help himself. so when he is outthere, he wants to undercut obama because in his mind, i wasa better president, i was a better president.

there is alsoanother theory out there talked about not on air often butdefinitely behind the scenes that he's ambivalent abouthillary clinton's run. like, i'm the guy who made it, i'm the onewho was president, i'm the one who got everything. now you are playing poppsychology, i get it. >>it's all speculation, let's beclear about that. i'm

uncomfortable with all of thosetheories, i don't know if any of them are true, the only thingthat i do know is true is that he said what he said, and what ifind so interesting is that hillary clinton's constant lineof attack against sanders was that he wanted to repealobamacare, which he did not want to do. he never said he wantedto, he simply said obamacare has significant flaws and we needuniversal healthcare. and that

was again a point of attack forhillary clinton. and i think it helps her to some extent in theprimaries, it helped her get votes. then you have yourhusband talking shit about obamacare, and not only that, inthe past hillary clinton herself was criticizing obamacare. that's the part that bothers me the most, the fakeness thathappened in the primaries, the

manipulation and lies thathappened in the primaries, now we are left with a situationwhere we have one republican candidate who is so hideous thatyou feel like you have to support the democratic candidatethat you are angry and upset about for being a liar andmanipulating people during the primaries. i don't know, that isthe part that drives me crazy. >>the bottom line, the clintonsget into office -- do you think they are going to make obamacaremore progressive?

that is not how it appears. you can say all you want about-- and i did -- about why bill clinton mighthave done this, but you can't argue if this ishis real opinion. it is, no question. he wouldn'tsay it if it wasn't his real opinion. his opinion is,obamacare is too progressive, i

would make it more conservative. he got in trouble for the same thing in 2013, he talked abouthow we need to turn to the republicans to help fixobamacare. they are conservative at their heart, they are notinsanely conservative like trump, but they arecenter-right. if some of you go that's it, i'm voting againstthe clintons, i get it.

but at the same time, center-right isterrible and that's why we fought it and will fight it, andi would be shocked if there were not a primary against hillaryclinton and i would be shocked if she didn't merit it in 2020. is it worse than insane right? no, it's not worse than insaneright, it's slightly better than insane right, or maybe a lotbetter than insane right. but it

doesn't make it correct, sothat's what i would encourage sanity, which is, don't lettrump win, but buyer beware on the clintons. it is not like theminute they get into office -- you know what the media will do,the media will yell at us and say you have to be fair to them, give them two or three or four years before you ever judgethem. i know what i'm getting, i've had 40 years, i know whatthe clintons are.

yes, we fight them on day one. but don't dowhat bill clinton is doing, which is fight them right now. he is undermining her own campaign and it's unbelievable.

will trump repeal obamacare

will trump repeal obamacare

president-elect donald trump promised to repeal obamacare. he has a republican-controlled congress to help him do it. how do they make it happen? real change begins with immediately repealing and replacing obamacare... republicans would normally need 60 votes in the senate to pass a bill repealing the health care law. but they’ll fall short of that threshold in the new congress that’s where a budget tool called reconciliation comes into play. reconciliation is a procedure used in the senate that allows a bill to pass with 51 votes. democrats used it in 2010 to help pass obamacare.

now, the republicans could use it to roll back the law while also avoiding a democrat filibuster. in fact, the gop-led senate already passed a budget resolution this year that included instructions to use reconciliation to repeal obamacare. the bill reached obama’s desk. he vetoed it in january. now, it’s time to do it again. congress should build off the last reconciliation bill. and this time, repeal all of obamacare. congress should begin this process before trump’s inauguration. that way, they’ll be ready to send him a repeal bill once he’s sworn in. with a president trump, obamacare could finally be gone forever.

will trump get rid of obamacare

will trump get rid of obamacare

the right is overjoyed for anynumber of different reasons that under president trump obama careis likely to be destroyed, but there is one particularfinancial incentive towards that destruction that you may not befamiliar with, so we are going to focus on that in thisvideo today. that has to do with two taxes. they will presumably be askedwith the law affect only those with the making ã± making$200,000 or more. the break the aca repeal willbring to those taxpayers will

amount to a $346 billion - video buffering ã± making more than $200,000 peryear. let's break down what those twotaxes are, and why they were initially put into the billand what will happen when they get rid of them. the taxes in question are knownas, the medicare tax on higher income individuals, andthe net investment income tax. but again, it only applies tothe income that exceeds the

$200,000 threshold. the net investment income tax isa levy meant to complement the medicare payroll tax. it applies on investment incomesuch as capital gains, dividends and interest income for thosemaking, again, $200,000 or more. and it's not like, this couldtheoretically happen, it will be interesting won't it,no, people are aware of it. the former tax policy director ã± it was for a conservativethink tank ã± said, "to me

personally, that's the best partabout repealing obama care. because on the healthcare sideof it, you have this comp located replace the market ortwo after that, but on taxes it's all easy ã± it's alldessert." there you have it, there's theelection. he just ruined dessert for me. that was the whole point of thiselection, dessert. that's what the republicans havealways wanted ã± yummy tax break ã±

buffering ã± you're making a good living. you're not a billionaire, andif you live on the coast, those folks actually think theyare struggling. you know that's not true, butthat's how they feel, but it's okay, they are going to have atax increase to $467. and believe me, they are notgoing to feel it. -- happens to people making over$1 million. do you know how much they'regoing to save from these trump

tax cuts from just repealingobama care? on average, each one of them isgoing to save over $36,000. so what you did by electingdonald trump, is he gave every millionaire in the country$36,000 to put in their pockets, and now, all those 20 ã± 30million people are going to be uninsured, because they say, ohwe'll replace obama care, but in order to pay for that you neededthe ã± these taxes ã± you think they are going toincrease taxes later?

inconceivable, so they will haveno money to do any kind of healthcare plan. there's going to be no replacingof the health care plan, so whatever they replace it withwill be bare-bones. it won't be able to cover you atall, and so all of you ã± not every person in the country, ifyou are employed i get it, you have insurance through youremployment, etc. ã± but there's going to be literally tens ofmillions of people left uninsured, and for all of us,we're going to have much worse

insurance, and go back to thedays possibly of, you have a pre-existing condition, you're ahuman being, you once sprained her ankle, that's it,pre-existing condition, i don't cover you, you give me the moneyand i give you nothing in return. we're going to go back to thosedays so that every millionaire in the country for $36,000 intotheir pocket. congratulations on voting fordonald trump. and that is just a side effectof what they are getting

for the aca being taken away. we've already broken down thatfor those in the .1%, the actual tax cuts he's goingto pass will literally put millions of dollars into theirpockets. this is just a little bit ofdessert sprinkled on top. is going to drop. many of them will have to goback to using the emergency room for routine stuff, because theydon't have insurance, and for

those who are able to get it,they are going to ã± taken away. so, you know, at what point ã±you think this pushes us towards joining the rest of theindustrialized world and getting single-payer health care? i think this will push us to itcloser. i saw the video that eric wilderdid with the transporter at the $15 rally, fight for 15, and hesaid, the people who voted for trump, we know he's a con man ã±i mean, southerners don't like

him, he's a northern yankeejackass running his mouth from new york city, they didn't likehim, but he makes the point that, that's how desperate wewere for someone to give us something that we could grasponto. so maybe now, obviously, you andi, they are going to make life worse for americans. so, if we remembered whathappened after six years of george bush, people had enoughof it, and we had a black guy as our president, a democraticsenate and house, a filibuster

proof majority for a couplemonths there, and what do we do? we took that opportunity to donothing for people except pass a right wing healthcareplan. we didn't break up the banks, wedid have a revolution. you know, we had the reaganrevolution, the new deal, the antitrust, the civil war,it's time for another one, and hopefully this horriblegovernance of donald trump will wake people up to it, andhopefully we'll get rid of these corporate democrats, andthat's what it's going to take.

nancy pelosi already says thatshe doesn't think the democrats want a new direction. she's wrong, that's why i'murging people to start a third party, i'm trying to see ifbernie will do that, but i don't think that will happen. but i think trying to fix thedemocratic party is going to be a fools errand. i think it will be difficult, ithink starting a third party is infinitely more difficult cult.

remember ross perot? back in 1992, people were sickof this shit. now 40% of the country considersthemselves not affiliated with either party. but people think ross perot gavethe election to the democrats. he did. that is generally what can endup happening. he was incredibly successful, but he didn't come anywhere close to becoming president.

but we could have a realprogressive movement, and a real coalition government. anything is possible, i wouldlove for us to go back to like, the new deal or something likethat, but in the short term, this is going to correct thefinances of our country. we know how hard it is to everraise taxes in our country. god knows how many services willbe lost as the ripple effect of losing this tax revenue, andonce his tax revenue goes through ã± we've looked at thebush tax cuts, we've looked

at the 10 year estimates for thenumber of people that ended up dying as a result of that, increased deaths due to risk ã± production of services andthings like that, and it literally led to, thousands ofpeople lost their life. so i guess we can and shouldlook forward to what's possible a long time from now,but people will literally die from the results of thesechanges, and they will not benefit from any hypotheticalawesome future, unfortunately. people are saying that statesshould lead the way to

single-payer health care, theydid it in color ã± they try to do in colorado. we are not to dissolve thethird-party debate right now. i think we're close. because the calvary has not yetarrived. they are at sending rock. on the first person to say that. and we are going to test jimmy'stheories out, because your theory was, under trump is goingto get so bad that we are going

to need strong democrats orprogressive ã± submitting and surrendering totrump, and they are not going to do any better for years fromnow, but jimmy i hope you are right, because it's going to getreal bad. they are stripping the wholething down. it's like somebody left a car inthe wrong part of town, and they come back and it's oncinderblocks, and they've taken everything valuable out of thecar. that's what they are going to dowith the country.

that's what they did in turkey. they are going to loot it. and the looting has begun, andthis is part of the looting. we have the head of the centeron policy saying that this plan of donald trump sees at the oddsã± seems at odds with the narrative of what this electionwas entirely about. so yes, half the trumpsupporters don't care about any of this. they are like, look, as long asyou hate the same people i

hate, i don't care. you want to take it from mypocket? what do i care? just so long as i get to feelgood about hating the right people. but half of trump supportersreally believe the stuff he was saying. a lot of you think, no theydidn't really believe him, did they?

some of them did, and when theycome to find out, oops, now i don't have healthcare, my kidsdon't have healthcare, why? because every millionaire had toget $36,000 under donald trump. he told me he was againstgoldman sachs, and he filled his cabinet full of guys fromgoldman sachs. and when that happens, peopleare going to wake up and say, we've been had. well, there better be strongprogressives to give people the opposite message, and givepeople hope for what can be done

right, and how the system is ã±you were right ã± the system is fixed against you, but let's gofix the people who rigged the system, the powerful, not thepowerless. and we will fight back againstthe people who rigged the system, and i believe in thelong run that we will win.

will they get rid of obamacare

will they get rid of obamacare

for years, republicans have been telling usand attempting to repeal the affordable care act. "repeal and replace” is the phrase thatthey have always used since day one. ‘we're going to repeal it and we're goingto replace it. we're going to take it away from you. we're going to give you something better.’ since donald trump won the election and republicanssaved their majorities in the house and senate, they've done nothing but talk about repealand replace, repeal and replace. paul ryan has said they're absolutely readyto pull the trigger on this, but today senate

republicans are saying, ‘hold up. not so fast, because as it turns out, we reallyhave no idea what we're going to replace it with.’ in essence, republicans are telling us, ‘youknow, i never thought i'd get this far with this plan, so you got to actually give mesome time to think about this, because it's a big frigging deal,’ to paraphrase joebiden when the law was signed. now, it's not a surprise that republicanshave no idea how to govern. they don't know what kind of law they wantto write. they don't know how to protect american workers, and consumers, and citizens with a kind of

healthcare bill that we need, and that's whythey're kind of freaking out right now, because they have been making these promises to theirconstituents for six years. they have been wasting time in the house ofrepresentatives for six years trying to repeal the affordable care act, and promising usalong the way that they're absolutely going to replace it with something better. it turns out, that something better doesn'tquite exist yet. again, it's because republicans are all talk,no action. they only came out against the affordablecare act because they thought that's what their constituents wanted to hear, becausetheir constituents still were under the false

belief that this thing was going to containdeath panels, or that the government was going to tell you which health insurance companyyou had to purchase from regardless. they thought it was going to raise their taxes. they thought it was going to be the worstthing ever, and it turns out that those red states are the ones who most rely on the affordablecare act. i think republicans kind of understand thatnow. i think they understand that the second theyrepeal it, their constituents are the ones who are going to lose their health insurance, which means their constituents are going to be the ones pissed off, which means thoserepublicans are the ones who are going to

pay the price. on the one hand, you have to give it to therepublicans a little bit, because they actually kind of learned something here. you can't just make all these promises withoutsomething in the works. i mean, again guys, you had six years thatyou've been talking about repealing it. not once during those six years did anybodylook around and say, ‘hey, hey what are replacing this with, by the way? has anybody drafted that bill? has anybody looked into it?

has anybody done research? has anybody talked to people?’ you guys didn't have the foresight to do itthen, so what makes us think you're going to do it now? the answer is that you're not. the affordable care act is not going to goaway in its entirety, at least not anytime in the next couple weeks, probably not thenext couple months, because republicans in washington aren't smart enough to replaceit with anything. they are smart enough though to understandthat it's the people who voted for them that

are going to lose their health insurance, and those republicans are the ones who are going to lose their jobs if they take obamacareaway.
